The Door Christian Fellowship Church
Our roots...Our Beginnings...Our Baton Change
The Door Christian Fellowship Church is affiliated with Christian Fellowship Ministries founded by Wayman Mitchell, senior pastor of The Potter’s House Church of Prescott, Arizona.
Beginning in 1970, this congregation (originally First Foursquare Church) has founded an entire fellowship of churches worldwide which go by various names. These include The Door, The Potter’s House, Victory Chapel, The Lighthouse, and Living Waters. The fellowship now includes more than 2,400 congregations worldwide.
In November of 1990 Pastor Barry Parker and his wife Marylou, and their 3 children were launched out of the Tucson winter conference into Austin’s central area to assume the pastorate of The Door Christian Fellowship church on Corona Drive. As the Parkers began to preach, serve and evangelize throughout the community, God honored their labors by bringing in families and young people.
The year 1997 brought a bumper crop of souls as the church, which was running about 40 at the time, experienced an explosion of revival…it doubled in one month to over a 100 souls. Since then, the Lord has continued to grace the church with several seasons of revival brought about by the working of His Holy Spirit.
In the October 2011 South Texas Bible Conference the Parkers answered God’s call to be missionaries. They went on to carry out our mission pastoring in Guangzhou, China.
At that same conference the spiritual baton was passed to Pastor Roland and Liz Perez and their two children as they took over the Austin church in November 2011. Pastor Perez has eighteen years experience serving and pastoring in several cities that include San Antonio, San Marcos and Merced, California.
He is a Baylor graduate with a Masters of Science degree. God knows the plans he has for the Austin church as we continue to move forward with the same mission and vision to win souls for Christ. In December 2012 Pastor Barry Parker went on to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His wife Mary Lou now resides in San Antonio,
